London – Global law firm Sullivan is pleased to announce that trade and export finance partner Simon Cook has been re-appointed to the Executive Board of the International Trade and Forfaiting Association (ITFA), the worldwide trade association for companies, financial institutions and intermediaries engaged in global trade, forfaiting, supply chain and receivables financing.

ITFA’s Executive Board includes market-leading practitioners from across the trade and export finance industry.

Simon has been a partner at Sullivan in London for eleven years and will continue in his role as Head of Education at ITFA, a role to which he was appointed in 2021, with responsibility for the association’s training and education programmes.

ITFA’s education programmes are implemented both centrally and through its various regional committees, including the African Regional Committee (ARC), to which Simon was also recently re-appointed, having been a member of the ARC since its establishment in 2017.

Simon has experience across a wide variety of transactions including structured trade finance, trade finance, commodity finance, insurance-backed finance, project finance, invoice discounting facilities, warehouse finance, supply chain finance, ECA finance and borrowing-base facilities in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the CIS. His work in structured trade includes financings for both lenders and borrowers in the oil, telecoms, soft commodities and metals sectors as well as on infrastructure projects, with particular experience in Africa and the Middle East.

Simon has worked and travelled extensively in Africa and the Middle East, living in Dubai for four years, and regularly participates in the key structured trade and commodity finance and receivables finance conferences and seminars throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
