Steven Cunningham and Ryan Tompkins presented "Estate Planning for Family Vacation Homes: Crafting a Lasting Framework for Continued Enjoyment by Future Generations" at a webcast program sponsored by The Real Estate Bar Association for Massachusetts (REBA) Estate Planning, Trusts & Estate Administration Section on March 26, 2025. 

The presentation explored typical planning strategies to facilitate shared ownership of family vacation homes across multiple generations or family branches, utilizing trusts, LLCs, and other arrangements. It addressed important estate and income tax considerations, as well as practical concerns, such as preventing disputes, structuring use agreements, drafting buyout and termination provisions, planning realistically for the ongoing maintenance, improvements, and carrying costs of the property. Steven and Ryan also highlighted common pitfalls and offered guidance on how to avoid them.
