Boston, MAAmeek Ashok Ponda, Director of Sullivan’s Tax Department, has been elected President of the American College of Tax Counsel (ACTC) effective March 1, 2026, following his prior service on the ACTC Board of Regents, including roles as Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer.

ACTC is a nonprofit association of tax attorneys currently engaged in or retired or semi-retired from full-time legal work, either in private law practice, in a corporate legal or tax department, in a governmental legal position, in a trade association or in a graduate-level teaching position (such as at a law or business school). One of ACTC's primary purposes is to provide a forum for tax attorneys to contribute to the development of U.S. tax laws and policy. In furtherance of that mission, ACTC offers recommendations to courts, Congress and the Internal Revenue Service aimed at improving the nation’s tax laws and their interpretation and administration.

Ameek's practice includes domestic and international taxation, with an emphasis on mergers & acquisitions and REIT transactions. He is nationally recognized for his work in REIT conversions and REIT cross-border matters and has represented public and private REITs in an array of real property sectors, both domestically and abroad.
