Using DFI and ECA Guarantees and Indemnities as Credit Risk Mitigants
When: March 27, 2025
Location: Sullivan-hosted webinar held on Zoom
People: Mark Norris and Daniela Barrdear

At this Trade & Export Finance Webinar on March 27, 2025, Mark Norris and Daniela Barrdear presented "Using DFI and ECA guarantees and indemnities as credit risk mitigants. Effectively structuring guarantees and indemnities – the risks and pitfalls for guarantors and beneficiaries", a look at credit risk mitigants from a trade, export and development finance perspective.

Key to the provision of this support are the guarantees and indemnities that they offer. Guarantees and indemnities have come under scrutiny recently. Often the outcome depends upon the construction of the agreement and its context, meaning similarly drafted documents can give differing results. With MDBs, DFIs and ECAs offering different forms of guarantees, what are the risks and pitfalls for guarantors and beneficiaries?
