London, UK – International law firm Sullivan & Worcester is pleased to announce that Geoffrey Wynne, partner and head of the firm’s London office and the firm’s Trade & Export Finance practice, has been named Industry Ambassador of the Year at the 5th Annual Receivables Finance International (RFIx) 2023 Awards held by publisher BCR in London.

The Industry Ambassador of the Year Award is given to the person considered to have done more than any other to “promote, develop and enhance the reputation, economic role, and social status of the receivables finance industry.” It also acknowledges Geoff’s considerable contribution to the digitalisation of trade and trade finance.

This award follows that made last year by RFIx to Sullivan managing associate Hannah Fearn for her work on the International Trade and Forfaiting Association (ITFA) Basel III Credit Risk Insurance (CRI) Policy Template, which she was awarded jointly with Lee Hitge, now at Howden CAP. It also follows the award made earlier in May this year when the firm was named Best Export Finance Law Firm at the Global Trade Review (GTR) Leaders in Trade Awards, 2023.

Geoffrey Wynne commented: “I am genuinely delighted to win this accolade but must of course acknowledge the support of a great team around me, partners, lawyers, support staff and of course our loyal and ever-expanding client base. This award recognises that we have now been at the forefront of receivables, trade and export finance and the digitisation of trade for very nearly a decade. I anticipate that the firm’s London office, together with our colleagues in the U.S., will be a driving force within the industry for many years to come.”

With almost 50 years’ experience in trade, receivables, export and commodity finance, Geoff has led Sullivan & Worcester’s London office and its market-leading trade and export finance practice for a decade. The team is among the elite providers of legal advice in relation to structuring trade, export and commodity finance transactions to major trade finance banks and other financial institutions, funds, corporate borrowers, agents and trustees, and national and international organisations.

Having been involved with the key trade industry bodies in the UK – the ICC, ITFA and BAFT – for many years, Geoff and the firm continue to play a significant role in the future of the industry and helping clients and the industry resolve issues they face, including the digitalisation of trade and trade finance, and helping to pave the way for the use of electronic negotiable instruments in the UK and internationally.
