Sullivan Wins Two Major Trade Finance Awards
London, UK – International law firm Sullivan is delighted to announce that it has won two major awards from leading trade finance publications.
The firm has been named 'Best trade or supply chain finance law firm' at the Global Trade Review (GTR) 'Leaders in Trade Awards' 2022, and 'Best Trade Finance Law Firm' at the 2022 Trade Finance Global (TFG) International Trade Awards in cooperation with the Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT).
The GTR award represents the fourth year running that Sullivan has been recognised at GTR’s Leaders in Trade awards. In 2021, it was named 'Law firm of the year' in the category 'Leaders in Trade for Innovation'. This year the firm was also shortlisted in the 'Best law firm (export finance)' category.
The GTR Leaders in Trade Awards highlight excellence in the trade, commodity, supply chain and export finance and fintech markets. The awards were presented at GTR’s 2022 Annual Charity Awards dinner, held in London last night.
With regards to the TFG 'Best Trade Finance Law Firm' award, it is the second time the firm has won this accolade, having previously won it in 2019. These awards are now in their sixth year, run in cooperation with BAFT, and recognise those who 'have provided an outstanding contribution to global trade and finance.'
Geoffrey Wynne, head of the Trade & Export Finance Group and Sullivan’s London office, commented:
"In such challenging times, it is a real honour for Sullivan to win the two most sought after accolades available for law firms anywhere – what a double!
We have now seen well over two years of unprecedented disruption in the trade finance market and supply chains around the world that show little sign of abating. At the same time we are seeing a revolution in the way our business works as a whole in terms of the need for digitalization, virtual solutions, the rise of fintech and so on.
I am delighted for our team, but it is the loyalty of our clients who continue to support us in London and internationally that will ensure our high quality trade and export finance team in London and the US is able to do more for them where they need that support."
Sullivan’s trade and export finance team works with banks, financial institutions, funds, corporate borrowers, agents and trustees, and national and international organisations providing the full range of trade, commodity and export finance services, often in developing markets.
The combination of the team’s expertise in London and New York ensures the firm can advise on structured financings under English and New York law and cover all cross border issues. The firm also advises on disputes, insurance and regulatory issues relating to trade and export finance transactions.
Part of the firm’s global finance practice, Sullivan’s trade, export and emerging market finance practice handles multi-jurisdictional transactions and matters for clients across trade and export finance, project finance, asset finance, securitisation, securities law, insurance, tax, compliance and dispute resolution.
The team advises on deals involving all types of commodities including softs, metals, oil and gas, as well as receivables, structured financial instruments, trade services, Export Credit Agency (ECA) and trade disputes across emerging markets.
The firm also advises across the growing digitalisation and fintech areas, involving work for clients and associations such as the ICC, BAFT and ITFA in drafting rules and guidance for the fintech world.
