Geoffrey Wynne was interviewed recently by Mark Abrams, Global Head of Trade & Receivables Finance at Trade Finance Global (TFG), to discuss ‘How MRPAs are paving the way for collaboration in Trade Finance’ for TFG’s Trade Finance Talks video series.

They discuss how trade finance offers different instruments to transform trade opportunities into tangible realities. One such mechanism, employed by financial institutions, is the use of Master Risk Participation Agreements (MRPAs), allowing financial institutions to effectively transfer risk in a transaction while maintaining their relationship with the underlying commercial parties. This in turn - together with the inclusion of guarantees or credit insurance - should further mitigate credit risk and reinforce confidence among non-bank investors who might participate.

The discussion also focuses on the evolution, significance and the future prospects of MRPAs.
