Can We Beat the Fraudsters In Our Trade Finance Transactions?
When: April 22, 2026
Location: TTP Breakfast Club

London, UK

People: Geoffrey Wynne and Robert Parson

Geoffrey Wynne and Robert Parson participated in a roundtable discussion "Can We Beat the Fraudsters In Our Trade Finance Transactions?" at the first 2026 Sullivan and Trade Treasury Payments’ (TTP) co-hosted Breakfast Club on Wednesday, April 22, at The Lansdowne Club in London. This event follows the success of the first two TTP / Sullivan Breakfast Clubs in 2025.

With trade fraud escalating, the alarm is ringing louder than ever. Despite a heightened industry awareness of risk, recent high-profile cases have exposed persistent structural weaknesses in the global ecosystem — from duplicated documents to inconsistent data and opaque cross-border processes.

This Breakfast Club discussed the move beyond simple detection, to focus on true prevention and looked at:

  • The fragmentation gap: Why the lack of coordination between regulators and regions allows fraud to proliferate.
  • Structural resilience: How real-time settlement and richer data standards can alter liquidity management and control.
  • Rebuilding trust: The role of collaborative, industry-wide dialogue in strengthening the architecture of money.
  • Market incentives: What practical shifts are required to build "fraud-proof" supply chains and protect global capital.

 The panel included:

  • Geoffrey Wynne, Partner, Sullivan (Moderator)
  • Eleanor Hill, Treasury Editor, TTP
  • Robert Parson, Partner, Sullivan
  • Neil Shonhard, CEO, MonetaGo
  • David Cuckney, Executive Director, ICC Crime Bureau
  • Antia Martinez, Associate Director, Receivables and SCF Europe, WTW
