Geoffrey Wynne was quoted in the article "What is Driving the Growth of SCF" published by flow, a publication from Deutsche Bank Corporate Bank.

With the growth in SCF volumes being backed by increasingly robust reporting requirements, electronic documents legislation and greater collaboration between fintechs and banks, investors are showing interest in SCF-based assets.

flow looks at the combination of factors, from globalisation that has lengthened supply chains and regulatory changes impacting on traditional trade that have driven demand for SCF. The article also looks at whether this growth is sustainable, the impact of digitalisation, including the impact of the new Electronic Trade Documents Act (ETDA) and the new reporting requirements.

In relation to the ETDA, Geoff comments that, "This new law removes the physical barriers to the creation and exchange of the documents of trade and trade finance, and will, I have no doubt, deliver a significant uptick in the volume of trade that is financed, globally, in the coming years by both banks and non-bank financial institutions. It will also broaden out the appeal of trade finance assets as viable assets to finance."
