Geoffrey Wynne will join a panel discussion: “Trade Finance: Lessons from First Brands and Other Situations” at the ELFA Annual Conference 2026 on October 13 in London.

The panel will examine how investors can learn from recent high-profile situations and adapt their credit analysis to address emerging risks in trade finance. Topics will include the essential role of trade finance and its separate institutional frameworks, cohabitation on issuer balance sheets, structural credit risks such as hidden leverage, liquidity dependence and legal enforceability, as well as identifying red flags around double pledging.

The panel will be moderated by Rebecca Clements at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, also Co-Chair of ELFA’s Disclosure & Transparency Committee, and include panellists Patrina Buchanan at the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and IFRS Foundation, Saul Casadio at M&G Investments and Ramadurai Krishnan at Global Credit Data (GCD).
