Carole Bass presented “DNA Test Kits, Assisted Reproduction and Surprise Heirs: Careful Estate Planning for the Modern World” at the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) 2026 Ohio Fellows Meeting, which took place April 17–19 in Cincinnati. Carole’s session was held on Saturday, April 18.

Her program examined how consumer DNA testing and the growing use of assisted reproductive technology have complicated inheritance issues, and what estate planners can do to address these developments when interpreting existing trusts, drafting new documents and advising clients in an evolving legal landscape.
