BAFT 2026 International Trade and Payments Conference

People: Geoffrey Wynne

Geoffrey Wynne participated in a panel session on the “Master Risk Participation Agreement (MRPA): How Banks Structure, Share & Mitigate Risk” at the BAFT 2026 International Trade and Payments Conference in New Jersey on February 5, 2026.

The MRPA is a foundational tool enabling banks to efficiently distribute, share and mitigate credit and country risk across trade and working-capital finance. This session provided an overview of the intent and structure of the MRPA, who uses it and why it has become essential to modern risk-distribution strategies. The panel walked through real-world case studies illustrating how the MRPA is applied in transactions, how institutions coordinate with partners, and how it supports capital optimisation, client delivery, and portfolio diversification across global markets.
