Daniel Ryan was quoted in the article "Investors Get New Breaks on Capital-Gains Taxes in Trump Law," published by The Wall Street Journal [sub. req'd] on July 12, 2025. The article discusses various new capital-gains tax breaks enacted by Congress in President Trump's new tax law, which he signed into law on July 4. Among the new or expanded tax regulations that allow taxpayers to defer, reduce or in some cases avoid capital-gains taxes are enhanced tax breaks for Opportunity Zone investments. Such investments allow investors to reduce capital-gains tax by 10% or more -- and in certain cases to eliminate those taxes altogether -- depending on the duration circumstances under which such investments are held.

“Somebody who’s planning an exit, selling a family business, it’s a good opportunity to shelter your gains, and they’ve made it even more enticing,” Dan says.
