Yana has particular experience in a variety of banking and finance transactions including ECA-backed finance, trade finance, receivables discounting facilities, letter of credit and guarantee issuance facilities and commodity finance, as well as in trade instruments including letters of credit, standby letters of credit, bills of exchange and promissory notes.

Advising on transactions across Europe, Africa and Asia acting for financial institutions notably in the oil, metal and soft commodities sectors, Yana also advises clients on regulatory issues in connection with the UK’s Capital Requirements Regulations and sanctions issues arising out of cross-border transactions.

Prior to joining Sullivan, Yana worked in the legal team of UK Export Finance (UKEF) advising on buyer credit, direct lending and hybrid transactions focused on the African market.

Representative Client Work

  • Advising JP Morgan and UKEF on a $92 million loan to the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Ghana and the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ghana for the upgrading of a 17 km stretch of the existing Tema-Aflao Road in the greater Accra region.
  • Advising JP Morgan and UKEF on the innovative £89 million finance facility for Embraer for the financing of critical parts, components and technology from UK suppliers.
