Joonas’ practice focuses on private equity and venture capital, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate law. He has represented private equity and venture capital funds in their portfolio investments in startup and mid-size companies. He has also advised various mid-size and startup companies in entity formation and preparation of financing agreements – from small-series seed rounds to larger, venture-fund backed rounds (series A, B and C). Joonas has represented clients in complex multi-party negotiations, legal due diligence, analysis of legal risks, legal advice on foreign investment matters, corporate restructuring and preparation of companies for sale, negotiation and structuring of cross-border transactions, as well as identification of relevant filings with government agencies.
Joonas joined the firm from KPMG, where he practiced primarily in Helsinki, Finland, as well as Nuremberg, Germany. While in Helsinki, Joonas worked concurrently with the Finnish Business Angels Network to educate angel investors with his legal perspective.
