Dan is a trial lawyer with a focus on complex business disputes in state and federal courts and in domestic and international arbitration. He has represented clients in a wide range of business related lawsuits involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, business torts, product liability, professional liability, employment matters, insurance disputes, intellectual property disputes, securities fraud, consumer protection litigation and class actions, corporate governance disputes, non-competition and nondisclosure matters. He has tried numerous cases to verdict, decision, or award in court and arbitration.

Dan has extensive experience in a variety of areas including product liability and mass torts, antitrust and unfair competition, securities and derivative suits, insurance coverage, employment and labor law disputes, intellectual property and bankruptcy.

Prominent technology companies, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, financial services institutions, private equity and venture capital companies, and other business concerns have been among his clients. Dan has represented a Global Fortune 500 company electronics manufacturer in connection with catastrophic global product liability claims as the lead counsel responsible for organizing its response to downstream commercial customers on warranty issues and product liability claims. This work included, directing lawyers in more than a dozen separate countries, and resolving all claims. Similarly, Dan has represented a Fortune 500 company in connection with multiple patent suits to enforce or defend against claims arising out of business critical electronic devices and software, including successfully settling claim with alleged damages of over $1 billion dollars. Dan has also brought arbitrations arising out of Stock Purchase and Asset Purchase Agreements to undo and enforce a variety of multi-million dollar transactions.

Dan has extensive experience trying cases in a variety of federal and state courts and has served as lead trial counsel in federal courts in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New York, and in state courts in Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island. He has litigated appeals in the Massachusetts Appeals Court and the United States Courts of Appeals for the First, Third and Seventh Circuits.

Dan's product liability experience has included defense of personal injury/wrongful death claims involving various products, including industrial machinery and equipment, medical devices and consumer products, and he has regularly counseled clients on product liability, warranty, consumer fraud and recall matters. With respect to toxic tort and mass torts, he has acted as national counsel in multidistrict litigation. His toxic tort experience has involved the representation of defendants in environmental, asbestos, silica and lead pigment matters. He has served as national coordinating counsel for a petroleum company in multi-district mass tort litigation. His antitrust, unfair competition and class action defense work has included the representation of public companies, directors and officers in numerous class action contexts in federal and state courts, including the coordination of multi-jurisdictional litigation and internal investigations.

Dan has litigated numerous labor and employment issues in state and federal courts and at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. He has been extensively involved in arbitrations, mediations and internal investigations. His intellectual property experience includes successful trials in patent, copyright, trademark litigation and misappropriation of trade secret cases.
