Adrift in an Ocean of Health & Welfare Plan Compliance? How to Survive!
David Guadagnoli presented "Adrift in an Ocean of Health & Welfare Plan Compliance?" at a program sponsored by the New England Employee Benefits Council. The half-day session was designed for employers and consultants to learn more about the laws that apply to and affect health and welfare benefits.
The program was divided into three parts:
- An overview of the currently applicable nondiscrimination testing requirements that apply to many existing welfare benefit arrangements (including a cafeteria plan operational primer)
- A deep dive into the ever-growing list of welfare benefit related notices required under an alphabet soup of federal laws, including COBRA, HIPAA and the ACA
- Our speakers addressed a range of relevant hot topics, including the interaction of various leave statutes and benefits (including FMLA and USERRA), filing issues and wellness developments
