Policy, Programs and Partnerships

S&W Startup Series, Sullivan & Worcester, Boston, MA
May 1, 2014 (5:30 - 6:30 p.m.)

Our sixth Startup Series workshop, "Policy, Programs and Partnerships," was led by Lewis N. Segall, a partner at Sullivan & Worcester.

There are many paths to success beyond the "traditional" angel/VC funding route that often go overlooked. This type of investment often comes at a steep price to founders. Leveraging governmental incentives and partnering with strategic players can help a start-up get to the next level, without requiring a founder to sacrifice as much equity or control often demanded by private investors. In this program we focused on clean energy and clean tech, but the lessons learned are applicable to most, if not all, industries.
