Sullivan Welcomes Leigh Gilligan to the Firm
Boston, MA - Global law firm Sullivan & Worcester announced today that Leigh Gilligan has joined the Boston office of Sullivan’s Real Estate Group. Leigh joins Sullivan after spending the majority of her career at McCarter & English.
"I have worked with Leigh for many years and am thrilled that she has joined Sullivan," said Ashley Brooks, co-chair of Sullivan’s Real Estate Practice Group. "Leigh brings with her a wealth of experience in all aspects of environmental and land use matters and our clients will benefit significantly by having Leigh as a part of the Sullivan development team."
Leigh counsels clients on environmental and land use matters, including licensing and permitting, compliance counseling, and advising on the environmental aspects of business, lending and real estate development transactions. Leigh represents parties involved in federal and state hazardous waste sites, handling legal proceedings, private cost recovery actions and dealings with governmental agencies. She also represents parties in state and local administrative enforcement proceedings involving wetlands, tidelands, and Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act reviews.
"Sullivan’s depth, reputation and concentrated focus on the growth of the real estate development practice was very appealing to me and is a nice fit with my client base," said Leigh Gilligan. "I am excited to be a part of the team, some of whom I have worked with in the past and respect tremendously."
Gilligan regularly represents lenders in evaluating, managing and resolving environmental issues, including preparing environmental opinions related to loans and bond issuances. She also has extensive experience addressing environmental issues involved in the purchase and sale of land and businesses, including confirming and securing liability protections and economic incentives for Brownfields redevelopment.
A frequent author and lecturer on environmental-related topics, she has been an Instructor/Guest Lecturer at MIT’s Center for Real Estate. She also serves as a Commissioner on the Newton Conservation Commission in the City of Newton, Massachusetts.
