Simon Cook Re-elected to ITFA’s Africa Regional Committee
London – Trade finance partner Simon Cook has again been elected to ITFA’s (the International Trade and Forfaiting Association) Africa Regional Committee (ARC).
The elected members of the ARC will remain in post until November 2025 and include representatives from Africa Global Trade Finance, African Development Bank, African Export Import Bank, African Trade Insurance Agency, Crown Agents Bank, Investec, Rand Merchant Bank, as well as Sullivan.
Simon was one of just eight full voting members on the original ITFA ARC, established in November 2017, he also is a member of ITFA’s Executive Board, and in October 2021 was appointed its Head of Education.
Simon Cook commented: "I am delighted to be re-appointed to the committee and to continue to help set ITFA’s African agenda and execute its strategy across the continent. Sullivan is particularly well placed to support ITFA’s commitment to the continuous development and growth of the trade finance and forfaiting industries, with our extensive experience across the region. We have worked on some of the most significant structured trade transactions across a wide range of commodities as well as supporting clients with export finance, project finance, cross-border syndicated lending, acquisition and asset finance, and debt restructurings."
Newly elected Chair of the Committee, George Wilson of Investec, commented that "the hope and intent for the new ARC is to promote practical help and technical assistance for African trade finance market participants – from ESG and regulatory concerns to documentation and enforceability. We hope to garner a lot of direction and support from the Global ITFA community and align this with African trade interests."
