Nicholas O'Donnell was quoted in the article, "For Decades, a Jewish Family Sought the Return of Their Beloved Painting – Can the Supreme Court Make that Happen?," which was published in Forward on January 17, 2022.
Nick, who filed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court in the case, noted that the application of Spanish law is a misinterpretation of the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act (FSIA) and that California law should apply: "applying federal common law 'doesn't really exist anywhere except the Ninth Circuit. All of the other appeals courts have held – no, you look at the choice of law rule in the forum state where the case is pending.'"
