EU Finance Ministers Fire Warning Shot on U.S. Tax

Douglas S. Stranksy was quoted in an article published on December 12, 2017 in Tax Notes and Worldwide Tax Daily entitled “EU Finance Ministers Fire Warning Shot on U.S. Tax Reform.”

The article discusses the letter that the finance ministers from Europe’s five largest economies sent to the Trump administration warning that the U.S. tax reform proposals would flout international agreements and undermine trade. Mr. Stransky comments that it is “laughable that the same ministers who have hammered away at U.S.-based multinationals over not paying their fair share [of taxes] are now crying when it looks like the attempts by the U.S. to reduce incidences of [base erosion and profit shifting] BEPS may actually have an indirect impact on these economies.”
