Sullivan Names DC Partner Nicole Crum Chair of the Firm's Women's Initiative
Washington, DC, September 19, 2017 -The international law firm Sullivan today announced that Nicole Crum, a DC-based partner in the firm’s Investment Management practice, will lead the firm’s Women’s Initiative.
Crum has demonstrated her leadership on women’s issues, diversity and inclusion over the years as a contributor to the Women’s Initiative and as an active member of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Crum stated, "I view this leadership role as an opportunity to create a community that provides intentionality, support and resources for women to advance, lead and thrive at the firm. It is essential to further the firm’s goal of gender balance at all levels, including firm leadership."
In addition to these leadership roles, Crum also serves on the firm’s Lateral Recruiting Committee.
"Nicole is an outstanding lawyer and exemplifies the path to leadership at S&W," said Joel Carpenter, managing partner of Sullivan. "She is a significant contributor to our firm and to the community, and is widely respected among clients. I look forward to partnering with her on Women’s Initiative matters to advance our goals of recruiting, retaining and advancing women associates and partners."
Ashley Brooks, co-chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, stated, "I am very excited that Nicole is in a leadership position for the Women’s Initiative – her passion, energy and vision are the perfect catalyst to further the firm’s commitment to the retention and advancement of woman attorneys."
The Women’s Initiative coordinates professional development programs aimed at retaining and promoting women lawyers through a series of networking, education and mentoring programs; informal social events designed to promote networking among the firm’s female attorneys; and regular "brown bag lunches" specifically to encourage associates to meet and discuss career advancement and development. The firm offers formal training on a wide range of topics, including networking, communication and implicit bias and provides sponsorship of mid- and senior-level women associates to attend leadership programs. The firm’s “Get to Know the Women Partners” series, initiated by Crum, provides a forum for woman partners to share their career path at informal gatherings and enables attorneys to ask questions and seek guidance on advancing their legal careers and confronting challenges.
