Carole Bass Joins Sullivan & Worcester as Trusts & Estates Partner in NYC
New York, NY - Global law firm Sullivan & Worcester announced today the expansion of the firm’s Trusts & Estates group with the addition of Carole M. Bass as a partner in the firm’s New York City office. Bass brings more than two decades of estate planning experience to Sullivan and is nationally recognized for her work related to advising clients on estate issues arising from the use of assisted reproductive technology (ART). She concentrates her practice on advising high net worth individuals and families on all aspects of estate and transfer tax planning and estate administration.
"Carole brings a new dimension to our Trust & Estates practice and we couldn’t be more pleased to have her join us," said Joel Carpenter, managing partner of Sullivan. "We’ve seen significant growth in our Trust & Estates practice as changing tax laws and new legislation make protecting intergenerational wealth increasingly complex. Carole’s work as a trusted counselor and advisor further strengthens our team."
Bass joins Sullivan from Moses & Singer, where she was a partner. Her work includes advising on pre- and postnuptial agreements, and providing counsel on marital agreement issues related to the utilization of ART. Active in professional organizations, she is Co-Chair of the ABA’s Real Property Trusts and Estates (RPTE) section’s Continuing Legal Education standing committee and serves on the Family Law Task Force of the American College of Trust and Estate Council (ACTEC) of which she is a peer elected Fellow. She also is on the Board of Directors of Gilda’s Club, Westchester.
"Sullivan & Worcester’s Trusts & Estates practice is growing in New York and it’s an exciting time to be joining the firm," Bass said. "In addition to my new practice group colleagues, accessing the talent of the firm’s exceptional Tax group will enable me to better serve my clients and bring them the sophisticated solutions to state, national and international estate planning issues they need. I’ve known the T&E people at Sullivan for a long time and am pleased to be on their team."
Bass is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut and the U.S. Tax Court. She earned her B.A. from State University of New York – Binghamton, her M.S. from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, and her J.D. from Cornell University Law School.
